It started with a photograph by Brassai, the artist best known for his pictures of the seamier side of 1930's Paris, a far cry from Cathedral Hill. 

Among his well-known images is that of La Mome Bijou, or Miss Diamonds, a bejeweled barfly whose life was something of a mystery even in her day.

Fern's life, in the best and the worst of times, revolved around fine food, beverage and the love of the night life with friends. Her name sake Fabulous Fern's Bar and Grill is described by the St. Paul Convention and Visitors Bureau as," Simply the Finest Neighborhood Restaurant and Bar in St. Paul". Fabulous Fern's menu includes a wide area of classic dishes as well as healthy entrée salads, pastas and a creative array of delicious sandwiches. A Feature menu is presented by our Chef weekly with a unique Appetizer, Entrée Salad, Chefs Grille, Seafood Plate, Pasta and Featured Dessert. We also have a Kids menu available. Full beverage service is available and the bar area has state of the art flat screen TVs for sports viewing, darts and the most popular video games.

• Our hours are: Monday - Wednesday - 11 a.m. to 1 a.m.
  Thursday - Saturday - 11 a.m. to 2 a.m.
  Sunday - 10 a.m. to 1 a.m.
  Sunday Brunch 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
• Full Menu served Sunday - Wednesday until 10:00 p.m.
  Thursday - Saturday until 12:00 a.m., Except Sunday during Brunch.
• Reservations recommended for Lunch or Dinner in the dining room.
  All reservations must be made and confirmed via the phone.
• Restaurant and Bar area have been designated 100 % non-smoking. We provide an outdoor smoking area complete with electro-static heaters and wind breaks for your comfort.
